Welcome to the Navigator class page.
On the Curriculum Newsletter link below, you will find details of our Creative Learning Journal (CLJ) theme for the term and discover many of the amazing learning objectives we will cover across the subjects.
Reading is a top priority in our learning. The children will have an individual book matched to their reading ability and a library book where they can choose a style/genre of book that they are interested in. During literacy, we teach the reading skills but it is most successful when children practise at home. Please encourage your child to read regularly, and it doesn't matter what they read as long as they enjoy it! It is also perfectly OK to re-read passages/ books and take opportunities to explore new vocabulary. Having discussions around what they read will also support their comprehension skills. During the year we will have reading workshops you can attend and please feel free to contact me via the school office if you have any queries about how, what or when to read with your child.
I will teach Year 4 maths, and Mrs Stone will teach Year 3 maths.
Our PE days are on Tuesday and Thursday. PE kit is required to stay in school throughout the week and will come home on a Friday.
Our outdoor learning day is on Monday's and children will need to bring in/ wear suitable long trousers (joggers/leggings), a waterproof coat and wellies. Waterproof trousers are also recommended. They can wear their own trousers all day if they wish, but would be advisable to bring in a change of trousers in case they get wet and/or muddy! Normal school uniform is to be worn on the top half.
Children are required to bring in their water bottle, sun hat/warm hat and a warm waterproof coat every day. Wellies are to be left in school and taken home at the end of every half term.
If you have any questions or need to contact me, please contact the office at office@sixpennyhandley.dorset.sch.uk.
